FAQs
How to approach skin care & anti-aging in the 30s?
In your 30’s your acne should be a distant memory. If you still suffer from breakouts & blemishes, our dermatologist can find an effective solution.
Dermal fillers are employed in this age group to replace volume loss. Classic treatment areas include the lips, cheekbones & jawline.
Anti-wrinkle injections can reduce & prevent wrinkles. Whilst gentle resurfacing lasers can markedly improve your skin quality, reducing pigmentation & improving luminosity.

What is the best skin care in the 30s?
Skincare, regardless of age should be approached with precision & intent. In the 30s it is about preventing wrinkles, pigmentation & preserving dermal collagen.
AM: Oil free cleanser, antioxidants including vitamins C, E, ferulic acid, SPF.
PM: Oil free cleanser, Retinol 0.5 to 1.0, AHA wash weekly, option for vitamin B,C.
- Pigmentation? Add arbutin, liquorice extract, hydroquinone, & AHAs.
- Enlarged pores? Consider BHA & AHAs as part of your routine.
- Sensitive skin? Replace skincare ‘actives’ with azelaic acid & niacinamide.
If you are struggling with skincare, consult the team of therapists at our sister clinic – The Formulated. They are located next to our Taringa clinic at 191 Moggill Road, Taringa, 4068.
What are the best procedures in the 30s?
Focus on improving your skin quality. This entails reducing pigment including sunspots, freckles, sun damage, melasma, & brown acne marks. Conversely, there are targeted treatments to reduce redness & blotchiness as well as broken capillaries.
Brown or red acne marks can be treated with pico lasers & super-gentle fractional lasers. Broken capillaries can be treated with vascular lasers.
Fractional lasers improve skin texture as well as correct fine lines, scars & enlarged pores.
What areas are treated with dermal fillers in the 30s?
Dermal fillers in your 30s fulfil one of two roles-
- Correct, or enhance genetic volume deficits. This refers to what you are born with, also referred to as your natural profile. Examples include thin lips, weak jawline, or chin.
- Replace volume loss due to reduction of dermal collagen. You lose over 1% of collagen from your early 20s. If you are in your late 30s, you’re behind by 20+%. No amount of skincare can replace this loss. Dermal fillers can predictably replace loss volume in only one simple 10-minute procedure.
Are anti-wrinkle injections recommended in the 30s?
Anti-Wrinkle injections in the 30’s differ from your 20’s. In most cases, patients in the 30s will exhibit static wrinkles & fine lines. Small units of anti-wrinkle injections can treat & prevent deeper lines & creases. Performed with skill & precision, our injectors can reduce wrinkles whilst still giving you a natural look. What types of lasers are suitable for skin in the 30s?
Lasers in this age group are employed to treat or correct skin quality issues such as scars, red & brown marks, fine lines & sun damage.
- Pigmentation: they include Picoway, Picosure Pro, Spectra, Fraxel
- Acne scars: Fraxel, CO2, Hybrid lasers
- Red acne marks: vascular V Beam laser, DermaV laser, BBL
- Lines, wrinkles & sun spots: Hybrid laser resurfacing
Is skin tightening necessary in the 30s?
In most cases, yes. Collagen starts to degrade in your mid 20s. By your late 30’s your collagen has depleted by 30%.
Skin tightening in this age group can be achieved with superficial treatments such as Hybrid lasers. For mild laxity RF can be useful, whilst HIFU or Ultherapy can be used if you have more severe laxity.
What does a cost-effective skin treatment program in the 30s look like?
A simple, but effective program extends over 12 months, bringing in skincare, injectables & procedures may look like this-
- Skin Care: Vitamin C, Ferulic acid, Retinol, AHAs
- Injectables: 1-3 mls dermal filler, anti wrinkle injections 2-3 times a year.
- Procedures: 1 session Fraxel or Hybrid fractional laser resurfacing
