FAQs

What can CoolSculpting do for the male physique?

CoolSculpting is partially effective in improving the physique & profile in men. The most common areas treated include-

  • The flanks & love handles. One session can reduce 25% of localised fat.
  • The abs & stomach, most often combined with flanks.
  • The under-chin area, as this defines the jawline & face.

What can CoolSculpting do for the jawline?

The jawline defines the male profile. As we age, pockets of stubborn fat accumulate in areas such as the neck. Even with careful dieting & exercise, these problem areas don’t resolve.

CoolSculpting can sharpen the jawline & neck area in one simple 30-minute procedure.

What other treatments do we combine with CoolSculpting for jawlines?

Fillers are often paired with CoolSculpting of the neck. Dermal fillers provide volumetric traction, structural support & sharp jaw defining angles. Coupled with focal fat reduction, this combination is insane at re-defining the jawline, chin & lower face.

The best part is that there is zero downtime with this combination. To see how dermal fillers can help with your profile, book a consultation with our dermatologists or nurses.

How many sessions will I require?

2 on average. One session reduces fat thickness by 25%. Two sessions can result in a permanent 40% reduction of fat thickness. Sessions can be spaced between 4 to 8 weeks apart.

What does the procedure involve?

The CoolSculpting handpiece is placed over targeted areas, during which time you will feel a cold sensation. The procedure takes 30-35 minutes. During this time, you can rest, read, check your emails or even nap! While you relax the fat is being frozen, causing destruction of adipocytes.  Your immune process then kicks in, removing them from the treated areas. Results are seen at 4 weeks & maximal at 4 months.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting works by killing at cells via controlled cooling, hence the name fat freezing. Fat pockets placed into applications of various sizes. Once in, a mild negative pressure vacuum holds it in place & freeze thaw cycles are then initiated. Depending on the treatment area, it takes 30 to 60 minutes for the process to finish.

Once the fat cells are destroyed, your body’s immune system takes over, eliminating them over a period of months.

Are the results permanent?

Absolutely. CoolSculpting reduces 25% of subcutaneous fat after just one session. With two sessions you can expect up to 40% total reduction. Once destroyed, fat cells are gone forever.

When can I see the results?

Results can be seen as early as 4 weeks, but it’s maximal at 12 weeks. This is because CoolSculpting relies on the body’s natural process to dispose of unwanted dead fat cells.

Your immune system breaks down the fat cells through a procedure called apoptosis – through which enzymes break down the cells into smaller pieces to allow for your white blood cells to remove them from your body permanently. This takes 10-12 weeks to complete.

The 3 most popular areas for coolsculpting in males are the abdomen, flanks & the under chin area. Coolsculpting is the most effective method of non-surgical contouring.

Can CoolSculpting be used as a weight loss tool?

No. Crylipolysis is designed to reduce stubborn focal areas of fat. In men, most commonly on the love handles, abs, under chin, & pectoral areas. It is not a weight loss treatment.

Why is it so darn hard to lose fat around the waistline?

2 scenarios, firstly you had a good physique when young & over the years a layer of fat has covered the 6 pack. Secondly, you’ve always had trouble with the abs & flanks, even when young

Some people are genetically blessed with genes that don’t accumulate all the fat along the waistline, however these lucky ones are few. As we mature, both genetically blessed individuals & normal genetic males will shift to accumulate both visceral & subcutaneous fat. Part of the reasoning is a lower metabolism, whilst reduction in hormones such as DHEAS & testosterone are also to blame.

CoolSculpting can help by specifically targeting these problem areas. Coupled with a healthy diet and lifestyle our specialists can sculpt these areas with insane accuracy.

What is the recovery following CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting requires little to no downtime. Because it is non-invasive, CoolSculpting is an excellent nonsurgical alternative for those who want effective results without the recovery of surgery.

How experienced are we at CoolSculpting?

Our dermatologists were the first doctors in Queensland to bring non-surgical body contouring a decade ago.

Over the years we have had experience not only with CoolSculpting, but with other devices including CoolTech, Clatuu & Cynosure SculpSure. Not only do we perform treatments, but we also look after side effects from other laser & cosmetic clinics.

What is the difference between CoolSculpting & liposuction?

Liposuction physically extracts subcutaneous fat through a cannula or blunt hollow tube. CoolSculpting selectively destroys adipose tissue with controlled cooling. Frozen fat is then eliminated from the body over a period of weeks. Once cleared, fat does not recur.

Which is better- CoolSculpting or SculpSure?

For men, it’s a definite to CoolSculpting. Here us out for the reason. We have SculpSure, we have used it for 5 years, & here is why. SculpSure uses a 1064nm laser to deliver controlled heating via sapphire cooling applicators. There are two variables that make this a less predictable treatment compared to cryolipolysis (fat freezing).

Firstly, the heat or energy levels can be turned down. This marked variance of energy levels leads to non-standard treatments. CoolSculpting on the other hand has only one setting- very cold.

Secondly, SculpSure does not have a preset applicator, hence anyone is a candidate. CoolSculpting has applicators. If you can’t fit in one, chances are you’re not a candidate in the first place.

It’s not that SculpSure doesn’t work, we work on probability not possibility.

Will CoolSculpting reduce visceral fat & reduce cardiovascular risks?

Nope, CoolSculpting is great for subcutaneous fat (yellow or superficial fat), it does not treat brown fat that surrounds the organs. Heart disease, diabetes & increased blood pressure is associated with increased visceral fat.

To reduce visceral fat, discuss treatment options with your GP. They include diet, lifestyle & pharmaceutical intervention.
