Reversing Sun Damage & treating wrinkles
The Jawline Defines Men
With years of sun exposure, your skin’s quality is compromised. Clinically this presents as age spots, pigmentation, dull skin, wrinkles & sunspots. One simple 30-minute laser procedure can reverse skin aging by up to a decade.
What do actors like Brad, George, Tom, & Bradley have in common? Strong jawlines. A jawline defines masculinity. Our specialist injections can skilfully recreate angles, contours & highlights to give a strong, defined jaw. We do this with strategically positioned hyaluronic acid & collagen stimulating dermal fillers. A simple, painless 15-minute procedure.
Liposuction to define the chin & jawline
Dermatologists are hair loss experts
As we age, excess fat coupled with increased skin laxity on the neck, leads to double chins & a less defined jawline. Dermatologists can permanently remove excess fat in a single 20-minute liposuction procedure. We tighten the overlying skin with radiofrequency energy, to reduce skin laxity. Results are predictable & instant with a recovery of only 48 hours.
Treating hair loss early is the best defense against baldness. Our specialist dermatologist can skilfully diagnose & treat all forms of hair loss. We employ scientifically proven modalities to halt hair fall, & in many cases growth your hair back. We combine prescriptive medicines with microneedling, platelet therapy, low level laser therapy & the latest procedures to treat alopecia hair loss effectively & safely.
The most popular aesthetic treatments for men include jawline definition, medical hair loss restoration, & cosmetic injectables. Our team of dermatologists & cosmetic nurses will guide you as to the ideal treatments to achieve your goals.

What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are a family of injectable products that can restore and increase the volume of your skin in targeted areas of your face. The most common filler we use is made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule consisting of sugar bonds.
While anti-wrinkle injections prevent wrinkles that appear during facial expression, facial fillers minimize the appearance of wrinkles & creases that show when your face is at rest. Facial dermal fillers can effectively reduce the appearance of:
- Sunken & hollow cheeks
- Under eye area or tear troughs
- Nose-to-mouth lines
- Restoring volume to sunken areas of your face
- Enhance the jawline to give better definition
- Enhance the chin to give better proportions
How is dermal filling in males different from fillers in females?
A simple concept to understand is this-
- Filling in females is aimed at giving soft contours & a V shaped appearance.
- Filling in males is the opposite. We aim to give chiselled hard angles that reflect masculinity
The most common areas we treat in males include the jawline, chin, & in some cases the lateral cheeks. For older patients or those with low cheek fat, the tear troughs are also corrected.
How long does dermal filler take, & is it painful?
The actual filling itself takes 2-4 minutes to complete. Treatments are painless because we use fillers with premixed anaesthesia.
The greatest time taken is pre-planning as our injectors are meticulous when it comes to measuring proportions & noting asymmetry. The planning part is typically 5-10 time longer (up to 15-20 minutes) compared to the actual injecting.
What is the recovery following dermal filler injections?
Immediate. Zero downtime. You can go to work & exercise as per normal post filler injections.
What types of fillers do we use?
Our dermatologists & nurse injectors are trained to use over 20 types of fillers. We pick the best products from each major manufacturer. The most common fillers we use are hyaluronic acid fillers. They are made up of cross-linked sugar molecules.
We also use collagen stimulating dermal fillers called poly-l-lactic acid & calcium hydroxyapatite. These fillers are especially useful around the jawline area as they give structure, support & resilience.
How long do they last?
Hyaluronic acid fillers last 18 to 36 months, depending on the type of filler, location, & importantly your metabolism.
Collagen stimulating fillers last between 2-4 years, again depending on the brand & your metabolic rate.
What are the potential side effects?
Side effects from dermal fillers are fortunately rare. They include-
- Infection
- Intra-arterial injection
- Prolonged lumps – over 4 weeks
Side effects will vary depending on the type of filler we use, & the injection site.
What do anti-wrinkle injections do?
As the name suggests, these injections reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and facial creases. This is a TGA-approved treatment to reduce crow’s feet and visible, unattractive forehead creases.
Skilfully injected, this treatment relaxes tense muscles, to reduce the appearance of advanced aging. Our specialists are mindful of delivering natural results.
How do we administer anti-wrinkle injections?
Your injector will discuss the treatment sites prior to the procedure. The number of injections will depend on the areas treated. The strength of the muscle determines the amount of medication required; this may vary from one appointment to the next.
Each treatment can be completed in 30 minutes or less, making it easy to fit into
your day.
What are the expected outcomes of anti-wrinkle injections?
Reduced muscle activity starts around day 6-14, with full results at week 2-3. Over the week or so following your procedure, you will see a gradual reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, even when smiling or frowning.
Your less wrinkled, younger-looking skin will remain for approximately 12 to 16 weeks before the muscles slowly begin to move again. Maintenance injections every three to four months will preserve your smoother, more youthful look.
How good are our injectors?
We have one of the most experienced teams in Queensland & have been performing dermal fillers for over 15 years.
Our dermatologists sit on various boards & are national & international trainers for dermal fillers. They also sit on the emergency board of injectors, as Cutis Dermatology is the go-to centre of filler complications in Queensland.
What is skin quality & why is it important?
Skin quality describes the palate of your skin, good skin quality is seen in youth. Quality deteriorates with age. With Brisbane’s high UV index, skin becomes mottled, pigmented, uneven with wrinkles, & solar keratosis or sunspots. This leads to dull, unhealthy-looking skin.
How do we improve skin quality?
We improve quality through laser resurfacing. Cutis Dermatology has over 35 laser devices, but the go-to lasers for sun damage & skin rejuvenation is called Hybrid Laser Resurfacing. We combine two laser wavelengths to repair & rejuvenate skin.
Most patients require one treatment with a recovery of 5-6 days.
