FAQs

How to approach skin care & anti-aging in the 20s?

Keep things focused, namely- effectively treat acne breakouts, correct blemishes, prevent future outbreaks, correct old scarring.

Dermal fillers are employed in this age group to enhance areas lacking in volume & projection, classic examples include lips, cheekbones & jawline.

The medical team at Cutis Dermatology can formulate a bespoke chemical peel treatment plan. Book a FREE consultation at our Brisbane clinics by calling (07) 3088 6985 or use the contact us page. *T&C applies

What is the best skin care in the 20s?

Skincare, regardless of age should be approached with precision & intent. In the 20s it is about reducing acne breakouts, protecting the skin from UV, in turn reducing pigmentation & future damage to collagen.

AM: Oil free cleanser, option for BHA if acne prone, antioxidants, SPF.

PM: Oil free cleanser, Retinol 0.5 to 1.0, AHA wash weekly.

What are the best procedures in the 20s?

Focus on keeping your skin blemish free. This means no breakouts. By reducing breakouts, you will also prevent pigment changes including red & brown marks post acne.

Chemical peels including salicylic acid or retinoic acid peels are a simple, cost-effective way to reduce blemishes, blackheads, oily skin & congestion.

Brown or red acne marks can be treated with pico lasers & super-gentle fractional lasers.

What areas are treated with dermal fillers in the 20s?

Dermal fillers in your 20s are designed to correct, or enhance genetic volume deficits, not volume loss. Genetic volume deficits refer to what you are born with, also referred to as your natural profile. For example:

Thin lips? Consider dermal fillers to enhance.

Weak jawline? Consider dermal fillers to define.

Are anti-wrinkle injections recommended in the 20s?

There are two schools of thought, one treats established wrinkles, while the other focuses on pre-juvenation or prevention of rejuvenation procedures.

If you fall in the latter group, small units of anti-wrinkle injections can prevent wrinkles & fine lines, whilst still giving you movement & expression. Book a free assessment with our nurse injectors to discuss. *T&C Applies.

What types of lasers are suitable for skin in the 20s?

Lasers in this age group are employed to treat or correct skin quality problems such as blemishes, scars, red & brown marks (usually post acne).

  • Pigmentation: they include Picoway, Picosure Pro, Spectra, Fraxel
  • Acne scars: Fraxel, CO2, Hybrid lasers
  • Red acne marks: vascular V Beam laser, DermaV laser, BBL

Is skin tightening necessary in the 20s?

In most cases, no. Collagen starts to deplete in your mid 20s by approximately 1% per year. In this age group invest in treating the palate of your skin, namely surface changes & skin quality.

Skin tightening in this age group can be achieved with superficial treatments such as Hybrid lasers. RF & HIFU is not required– save your money & employ these treatments in your late 30s, if required. What about SkinTyte BBL? Not recommended, there are many more effective treatment options.

What does a cost-effective skin treatment program in the 20s look like?

A simple, but effective program extends over 12 months, bringing in skincare, injectables & procedures may look like this-

  • Skin Care: Vitamin C, Ferulic acid, Retinol
  • Injectables: 1-2 mls dermal filler (over anti-wrinkle)
  • Procedures: 1-2 Clear + Brilliant gentle fractional laser resurfacing
