Forehead & Brow Lift Surgery Brisbane

A brow and forehead lift repositions sagging brows, smooths deep forehead lines, and reduces heaviness around the upper eyes, enhancing facial symmetry and preserving natural expression. In some cases, it may also improve vision if brows obstruct the upper field.

Key Points

  • Lifts low or sagging brows to open the eye area and refresh facial appearance
  • Smooths deep forehead lines and frown creases
  • Does not correct eyelid skin – may be combined with eyelid surgery
  • Scars are hidden within or behind the hairline

FAQs

What is involved in a brow and forehead lift?

The procedure involves a small incision placed just behind the hairline. The surgeon carefully releases and repositions the forehead tissues, lifting the brows and smoothing out deep wrinkles. Excess skin may be removed or repositioned upward for a more refreshed look.

Am I a good candidate for brow lift surgery?

You may be suitable if you have low or sagging brows that create a tired or stern appearance, or if drooping brows are affecting your vision. Good health, realistic expectations, and no smoking (6 weeks pre- and post-op) are essential.

It’s important to understand that cosmetic surgery is a serious decision. Recovery takes time and involves post-operative care and support. We strongly encourage you to take the time to fully understand the procedure, risks, and recovery before proceeding.

How long does the surgery take?

Most procedures take between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the technique. You’ll be under anaesthesia for the duration of the procedure. Most patients can go home the same day, but you’ll need someone to drive you and stay with you for the first 24 hours as you recover from the anaesthetic.

Will a brow lift improve my eyelids too?

A brow lift can reduce crow’s feet and smooth deep lines between the brows, but it won’t fix loose eyelid skin. If eyelids are also a concern, your surgeon may recommend combining this with an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty).

What is the downtime like?

Swelling and bruising are common and usually resolve in 7–10 days. You’ll need to keep your head elevated, avoid strenuous activity for 2–3 weeks, and apply cold packs to reduce swelling. Most patients return to work or social activities within 10–14 days,  but full recovery can take longer depending on individual healing

Will I have visible scars?

Yes, but they’re placed within or behind the hairline and typically fade well over time. Your surgeon will guide you on scar care and how to minimize scarring.

How long do results last?

Results are long-lasting, but like all facial surgeries, it won’t stop natural ageing. Your brow will age from a more youthful baseline, with results typically lasting several years.

What are the risks involved in a forehead and brow lift

As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks. These may include:

  • Bruising and swelling
  • Temporary numbness or changes in skin sensation
  • Infection or delayed wound healing
  • Scarring (usually well-concealed)
  • Asymmetry or uneven results
  • Rare need for revision surgery

Your surgeon will discuss these risks with you in detail during a consult at our Brisbane clinic before proceeding.

Are there any non-surgical options for brow and forehead lifting?

Non-surgical treatments such as cosmetics and energy-based skin tightening can offer mild improvement for early signs of ageing. However, there is no true non-surgical replacement for a brow and forehead lift. Surgery is the only method that repositions the underlying tissue and delivers significant, long-lasting lift for moderate to severe sagging.

A consultation with a qualified surgeon is the best way to explore your options. They can assess your concerns, explain the benefits and limitations of both surgical and non-surgical approaches, and help you make an informed decision based on your goals, anatomy, and medical history.

How does a brow and forehead lift compare to non-surgical options?

Non-surgical treatments can provide subtle lifting or wrinkle reduction, but the effects are temporary and best suited for early signs of aging.

Surgical Brow & Forehead Lift Non-Surgical Options
Lifts deeper tissues Targets surface layers or muscle movement
Long-lasting results (years) Short-term effects (3–12 months)
Addresses moderate to severe sagging Best for mild drooping or fine lines
One procedure Requires ongoing maintenance treatments
Involves downtime and recovery Minimal to no downtime

How much does a brow lift cost?

The cost of a brow lift varies depending on several factors, including the complexity of your procedure, the surgical technique used, the surgeon’s experience, anaesthetic, and hospital fees. Once your treatment plan is confirmed during consultation, we can provide you with a detailed quote.

If the procedure is deemed medically necessary – for example, if low brows are affecting your vision – Medicare and private health insurance may cover part of the cost.

For an accurate estimate, we recommend booking a consultation at our Brisbane clinic with our Plastic Surgeons.
