Power, accuracy and pulse duration is what makes the PicoSure the leader in tattoo removal. This laser delivers short photoacoustic energy bursts that produce a tremendous amount of controlled energy in a very short period of time (measured in one trillionth of a second). The laser beam can precisely select fine lines of specific pigments.
PicoSure has two unique wavelengths: 755nm and 532nm. Both wavelengths are the gold standard for treating green, red, yellow and orange tattoos. These colours disintegrate up to 80% quicker than conventional tattoo removal lasers such as the Q-Switch Nd:Yag and dye lasers.
Resistant black tattoos also fade at a much more rapid rate with the PicoSure laser.
Green tattoos react the best when faced with the unique wavelength of 755nm (Alexandrite). This wavelength clears up a green tattoo much better than any other, including the Q-Switch Nd:Yag and Ruby.
With the PicoSure 532nm wavelength, reds, yellows and oranges disintegrate much more quickly than with normal lasers.
Resistant blacks and dark blues also respond well to the PicoSure device.
The exact number of sessions is hard to predict. Some light colours including grey can clear up in 2-4 sessions, while reflective yellows and greens can take many sessions to clear.
On average, PicoSure tattoo removal clears tattoos up to 60- 80% faster than normal nanosecond lasers.
Many other factors influence the appearance of tattoos, including tattoo size, location, layering, ink density, skin type and the state of your immune and excretory system.
The answer lies in the laser wavelength. A unique laser light needs to be used to treat green pigments in tattoos. Most laser tattoo machines provide only one or two laser lights that can only treat red or black. Black tattoos are the easiest to remove, followed by red. PicoSure generates laser energy with a unique wavelength (755nm). At full power, it elimates green ink better than any other laser on the current market.
PicoSure’s picosecond technology has been established as the market leader since 2013 and is the laser of choice for green, dark blue and black tattoos. With the recent addition of a red filter (532nm), red tattoos are now easier to treat. The 532nm wavelength of our new PicoSure can also treat oranges and yellows safely and efficiently.
The snap is faster! Picosecond lasers such as PicoSure have a very short pulse duration measured in a trillionth of a second. This means the energy is delivered over a very short span of time. These rapid energy pulses barely give the body time to respond and are so less painful than conventional tattoo removal lasers.

Black tattoos are the easiest to remove. This pigment reacts well with nanosecond or normal tattoo removal machines. Picosecond lasers can clear black tattoos 50% faster than the traditional Q-switched laser.
Red tattoos are simple to remove or fade with a conventional laser. Picosecond red 532nm wavelength clears reds 50% faster than nanosecond lasers.
Green tattoos are best removed by way of the PicoSure tattoo removal laser. This laser is by far the best for green pigments. Greens have been difficult to treat in the past; with the PicoSure, just 2 treatments can provide significant fading.

We find that tattoo removal varies from patient to patient and clinic to clinic. Patients are usually misinformed regarding treatment options and outcomes. In order to remove tattoos different wavelengths are needed especially if there are multiple colours involved. The PicoSure is the newest technology on the market with the exciting wavelength (755nm) to remove greens and blues however it is also can remove black and dark blues better compared to previous technology of nanosecond tattoo removal.
